Hello, I am Yu Fei. Nice to meet you in this text. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to our next encounter.
As soon as I got in the car today, I saw someone in the group chatting about Augment Code's rumored price increase, and several friends messaged me privately asking for better suggestions.
I checked the information, which comes from the official Discord. As of now, the official website still lists the price as $30 per month.
In short, the plans will change to $50, $100, and $250 tiers.
The number of USER MESSAGES included varies with different plans. Free users get 50 messages; paid users get 600, 1500, and 4500 messages respectively.
USER MESSAGES are defined as: A message or command you send to the Agent (in Instruct, Chat, etc.) that is successfully processed.
Also, it's worth noting that current paid users (at the $30 tier) will be automatically migrated to the Developer plan ($50) and can keep this rate until they change or cancel their plan.
Trial version info: 14-day trial (limited to 600 messages).
This announcement is planned to be publicly released next week.
If you carefully compare the current conditions on the official website, you will find that the previous unlimited use in agent mode is now limited in the $50 plan.
Many group members are asking about this. Here are my thoughts.
$50 a month is not as cost-effective anymore, so it's recommended to wait and see.
Of course, if you are already a paid Augment user, you should continue to use the $50 plan at the $30 price indefinitely unless you change or cancel. This situation is still worthwhile.
If you're just trying it out, making small tools for personal use, and not aiming for profit or monetization, and you're on a tight budget, you can queue for Trae or use Cursor or Windsurf.Currently, Windsurf is the most cost-effective. Cursor's performance isn't as good anymore, but it's still usable.
However, such a significant adjustment to the paid plan is quite rare. I wonder if Augment Code will see a large user exodus once the policy is officially announced.
