Why Did the AI Assistant with 22 Million Downloads Collapse in Reputation?

An AI assistant with a claimed 22 million downloads, yet a chillingly low rating of 2.3! Facing fierce competition, JetBrains chose to mass-delete user reviews and feedback, once again pushing this problematic AI assistant, and the well-known development tool company, into the spotlight of public opinion.

Although JetBrains' tools are highly regarded by developers, the company has lagged in AI assistance.

JetBrains released an AI assistant plugin in December 2023, designed to help programmers write code. The Czech-based software development tool vendor stated at the time, "JetBrains AI Assistant is similar to GitHub Copilot but deeply integrated with JetBrains' development environments (IDEs), code editors, and other products."

Today, this AI assistant plugin has been downloaded over 22 million times, but its rating is only 2.3 out of 5, with a large number of 1-star reviews.

Recently, users noticed that some negative reviews had been deleted.

One user complained, "My previous review was deleted for no reason. JetBrains seems to be cleaning up negative feedback, which has destroyed my trust and confidence in this company. They no longer value customer voices. I will still give it 1 star because the plugin is automatically installed, very slow, and full of bugs."
